KENDA Formula D Rookie Dennis Mertzanis races on Kenda Tires   (2010-07-23)
 


Hailing from the dirty south, Atlanta Ga! Home of the AtlantaBraves, southern hospitality, and down home southern cookin'. Dennis' driving career began when he received his driver's license in 1990. He began autocrossing in his 1984 VW Jetta GLI modified with period correct parts (Neuspeed, Autotech, Suspension Techniques, Fittipaldi, Autopower). From autocrossing VW's, he transitioned into road racing early BMWs (2002s, E21 323i, and M635i) during SCCA Improved Touring and BMW CCA events in the southeast. He was first exposed to drifting at a DGtrials event in Florida where he piloted his turbocharged S14 240sx. Since then, he has drifted his original BMW 2002 in various east coast competitions, competed in the NOPI Drift series, and now flies the Team Kenda flag in his supercharged VQ35-powered S14 in the Formula Drift series. Dennis is currently racing on Kenda Kaiser (KR20) 245/40R17 on the front and 265/35R18 on the back. Dennis is currently smoking the field with his Kenda tires and has qualified for three out of four races in the Formula D series. Aside from cars, Dennis is a Mechanical Engineering graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology where he was a member of the Georgia Tech Motorsports FSAE team. Upon graduation, he began his professional career at Boeing Aeronautics. He currently works for Honda of America as a Durability Engineer in the Engine Development Group. He currently lives in Columbus, Oh with his girlfriend, Susan, and their two dogs.
