On
Oct. 12th：Raced at Daniel's Ridge. In all Vance’s 18 years of
racing he saw something new. They were coming down a straight
away beside a creek, when out steps a giant bull. This thing
was HUGE... Vance stated〝I just barely missed him, but not so
for John Jordan who was a couple of places behind me.〞John hit
the bull and broke his collarbone. There were reports of cow
hide in the barkbusters. The next lap Vance took it a little
slower through that section. Everyone all did. Vance had made
it up to 2nd place and was having a good race, when He had a
flat front. He ended up 6th in the class. Vance said〝 At least
I wasn't the one with a broken bone. We will count this a good
race.〞
On Oct. 19th：McGee's Tree Farm in Wilkesboro. The track was
great. It is a new track with woods and creek jumps. Vance started
off mid pack and worked his way up to 3rd. He continued to ride
hard and steady, staying ahead of Bryan Henson and Sam Chalk,
Jr. The bike was working great. Vance finished 3rd behind Kailub
Russell and Robby Norwood.
On Oct. 26th：Flat Rock in Taylorsville. There had been rain
all around the week before. The track was 6 miles and rocky.
Vance said〝We had a good race, with about 7 pros. 〞He was running
good when his brakes went out. Vance continued to ride and still
ended up 4th.〝Not too bad without brakes.〞He said after the
race. |
